2024 Lead Charity Partner - Sarcoma UK

We are pleased to be collaborating with national bone and soft tissue cancer charity, Sarcoma UK, as this year’s Santa in the City charity partner.

Sarcoma UK is a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. It is the only cancer charity in the UK focusing on all types of sarcoma.

Sarcomas are uncommon cancers that can affect any part of the body, on the inside or outside, including the muscle, bone, tendons, blood vessels and fatty tissues.

There are around 100 different sub-types of sarcoma.

Sarcoma UK is now one of the biggest funders of sarcoma research in the UK, having invested more than £5 million to 74 research projects to date. The charity has helped more than 3200 individuals who use their support services an average of three times since they launched in February 2016.

Sarcoma UK relies on generous voluntary donations and the energy and imagination of its tireless fundraisers. The people who support their work are some of the most passionate, creative and committed in the UK. When you join Team Sarcoma, you are given support from the day you join until you cross your finish line, and beyond. You will be given personalised support, up-to-date information, and Sarcoma UK will be there to answer your questions any time. It’s the least they can do for their Team Sarcoma heroes!

Raising funds for Sarcoma UK means you are helping bring about a world where fewer people are affected by sarcoma. And that’s a win for everyone.

We’re bringing about change. Join us in doing that. For more information, visit: sarcoma.org.uk

+ Look Ahead

At Look Ahead, we are dedicated to improving lives through social care and housing services across London and the Southeast. We co-design and deliver innovative services that empower individuals with learning disabilities, young people, and adults facing homelessness, complex needs, domestic abuse, and mental health challenges. Our goal is to help them thrive and lead fulfilling lives.

Christmas is a tough time for many people we support. People who have experienced homelessness or slept rough and cold on the streets. People who may be living with a long-term mental health condition, a learning disability, or complex health needs. Young people who have just come out of the care system or children who are living in temporary or insecure housing or who have fled domestic abuse. These people, without our help, may struggle to have the things most of us take for granted at Christmas time. A hot Christmas dinner, warm clothes and bedding, presents for children.

By participating in Santa In The City fundraising challenge, we want to change this this year and Make Someone’s Christmas Brighter.

Every pound we raise or receive will go towards providing a brighter, better Christmas for the children, families, and adults in our services.

• A £10 gift will provide a hot Christmas dinner with all the trimmings for someone in our services. • A £25 gift will provide a child in our services with a Christmas present, maybe the only one they receive this year. • A £50 gift will go towards providing winter clothes and bedding for children in our services. • A £100 gift will help provide a festive celebration for 5 adults with learning disabilities who might otherwise be alone this Christmas. • A £250 gift will provide a Christmas dinner for 25 young people who have been in care who may not have families to spend the festive period with.

Why not spread Christmas joy this year by donating to our campaign or even gifting a donation to Look Ahead on behalf of a loved one instead of your usual gift to them? Or as an alternative to a Secret Santa with your family or workmates?

Let the best gift you give this Christmas be a brighter, better Christmas for someone in need. Be a Look Ahead Secret Santa and support us today.

We tackle the issues that cause poverty – low income, lack of choice, no access to the internet, social isolation, poor wellbeing, discrimination etc., not just the symptoms.
